This is the Trash Island

Garbage indeed cause problems that are difficult to unravel complicated until now. The problem continues to exist because the garbage is the density of an area, it is difficult to find a site for a landfill. The following 4 Island landfills in the world being used as a place of waste management.

1.Thilafushi is located to the West of Malé, and is located between Kaafu Atoll's Giraavaru and Gulhifalhu of the Maldives. Geographically it is part of the Vaadhoo channel. Thilafushi received its first garbage from Malé on 7 January 1992.  Work started with just 1 landing craft ship, heavy weight trucks, 4 2 ekskavator and a single wheel loader. During the early years of waste management, a hole with a volume of 37.500 ft3 (1060 m3) were excavated, after sand obtained from the excavation was used to construct walled enclosures around the perimeter. Waste received from Malé was deposited into the middle of the Middle holes, ending with a layer of uniform construction waste then levelled with white sand.

Thilafushi not only act as rescuer of waste matter on their own, but also sent them from a cement warehouse storage and other bulk storage facilities. The Government of the Maldives is now striving to maximize the management and processing of junk with more sophisticated technology to pressing environmental pollution level around the island.

2.Semakau Island, Singapore. Located 8 kilometers south of Singapore and the island is within 3.5 square kilometers, Semakau is designed by engineers in Singapore the NEA. It consists of two small islands that have been connected with a stone embankment. The inside is divided into 11 regions of the Gulf, which is coated with a thick plastic and clay to prevent unwanted materials pollute the ocean
Since it started being used in 1999, four of the 11 Bay has been filled in, covered with soil and planted with grass. Greening it cost about $ 400 million, can store up to 60 million cubic meters of debris, enough to fill the waste management of Singapore until 2040.

3.Yumenoshima is an artificial island in Tokyo Bay really made out of trash. It began in the late 1960s (although some sources say has started since the late 1950s or late 1970s) by the Government of Tokyo Prefecture/city as a solution to some problems of garbage. But a solution was found in 1972 when the City Government decided to make it into a garden. Now the spaces covered by eucalyptus trees and come by train, green fields for picnics, sunbathing, and anyone who is looking for relaxation. Between the garden can be reached by a bridge and the yacht marina.

4. Floating Garbage Island, Pacific Ocean. A very large island, twice the size of Texas floating somewhere between San Francisco and Hawaii.  It is composed of 80 percent plastic and weighs around 3.5 million tons of float in which few people have ever traveled, in the land of no man's land between San Francisco and Hawaii.
